Tehran: The Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) commander has issued a stern warning that Iran would retaliate fiercely against any future attacks. Major General Mohammad Pakpour made these remarks during a recent meeting in Tehran with Iraq’s National Security Adviser Qasim al-Araji.
According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Pakpour emphasized Iran’s readiness to respond decisively to any aggression, stating, “If anyone dares to infringe upon Iran, we will make hell [for the enemy].” He referred to Iran’s missile forces’ performance during a 12-day Israeli-imposed war in June, highlighting their strength and precision, and asserted that Tehran’s deterrence capability had exceeded enemy expectations.
The commander expressed gratitude towards Iraq for its efforts to curb anti-Iranian groups operating near the border during the conflict. He urged for the full implementation of existing security agreements, including the creation of a joint field committee to monitor the frontier areas. Pakpour emphasized that these groups pose a threat to both nations and must be jointly contained.
Qasim al-Araji, Iraq’s National Security Adviser, reiterated Baghdad’s commitment to its security pact with Tehran, stating that the security of Iran is intertwined with Iraq’s security. He dismissed any possibility of Iraqi territory being used for hostile acts against Iran and announced the formation of a joint oversight body to ensure compliance with the security agreement. Al-Araji also affirmed Iraq’s efforts to prevent hostile groups from operating during the recent conflict and pledged to continue such actions in the future.
