Iran’s Judiciary Chief Demands War Reparations from US and Israel

Tehran: Iran's Judiciary Chief Gholam-Hossein Mohseni-Eje'i has declared that the United States and the Israeli regime must be held accountable by international bodies for alleged war crimes and should pay full reparations to Iran. He made these remarks during a meeting in Tehran with senior members of the High Council of the Judiciary and provincial judicial chiefs.

According to Islamic Republic News Agency, Mohseni-Eje'i argued that both the United States and the Israeli regime were responsible for initiating the conflict, resulting in significant material and moral damage to Iran. He highlighted that multiple war crimes were committed during the hostilities, including civilian casualties, child fatalities, and attacks on protected sites such as hospitals, schools, universities, and residential areas.

Citing the 1949 Geneva Conventions and their additional protocols, Mohseni-Eje'i asserted that the actions of the US and Israel violated both treaty obligations and established customs of armed conflicts. He urged the Attorney General, the Judiciary's International Affairs Office, and the Human Rights Headquarters to intensify efforts to advance Iran's legal claims in international legal forums.

During the meeting, officials provided updates on ongoing international legal proceedings related to violations during the conflict imposed on Iran. The US and Israeli forces launched their aggression against Iran on February 28, which ceased after a two-week ceasefire following 40 days of intense fighting.
